People always ask me what the best website is for buying a home or property here in Minnesota. Just because your Zillows or Trulias are national operations a lot of folks tend to flock towards them.
The truth is, most Realtors in Minnesota are members of a Multi-Listing Service (MLS) that helps us populate hundreds of websites by uploading just one property profile. By uploading the profile, a computer system called IDX Broker sends the listing to hundreds of brokers and websites around the state or region. Zillow and Trulia is not allowed to be on this service. With those websites, agents actually have to manually enter the information and if sold, remove it. The problem is that many agents don't do this so clients will be looking at homes that were sold three months ago.
My advice to buyers is to use a local broker or the national Realtor website (www.Realtor.com) for the most up-to-date information to search, otherwise, you can always as me!
